High quality peptides saves time and money

Quality is a theme that is omnipresent on this website as well as in our production strategy. On most pages we talk about quality in terms of the specifications of the material that we deliver. This in itself is of course of great value for you. But there is another aspect to this, and that is the actually knowing that you are working with high quality peptides.

Knowing that the peptide you are working with is according to specifications, adds to the confidence in your findings. This alone is very nice, but it also works for you when you hit a snag, because when you can rule out certain aspects of your peptide as a problem right away then you will have saved a lot of time and money.

• When you know that any peptide-impurities that exist are predominantly N-terminally truncated sequences, you can rule out deletion sequences as a source of error.
   
• When you know that there has been a proper HPLC analysis carried out, you can rule out wildly inaccurate purity estimations as an explanation of unexpected results.
   
• When you know that the theoretical mono isotopic molecular mass has been confirmed, you can rule out misses like amidation/de-amidation or a disulphide bond (or the lack thereof) as the reason for lack of biological activity.
   
• When you know that the primary structure of the peptide has been verified by sequencing, you can rule out a faulty amino acid sequence as being the culprit.

In short, rigorous QC warrants that you have a quality peptide in your hands, and knowing this you can at the very least be certain of that it is according to specifications. This knowledge means that you can spend your time on the science part of your research.

A final note of caution: One may be tempted to not consider the peptide at all, and attribute whatever issues to other aspects of the experimental set-up. This can potentially result in great losses in time and money. The worst case scenario is of course when a project is abandoned, with the research team oblivious to the fact that a faulty peptide has been the reason for the lack of results.
