Monospecifc antibodies are antibodies that target the same antigen. They are either monoclonal antibodies or polyclonal antibodies that have been purified by affinity chromotography using the antigen as ligand.
This means that a polyclonal monospecific antibody raised against a synthetic peptide, can be a time-saving, cost effective and highly specific alternative to a monoclonal antibody. Some examples of projects where this strategy has been successfully used, include;
